Enjoy a well deserved break while working


Too often I find myself hunched over my computer screen feverishly working to complete one task only to have another present itself before the previous task is complete. This ritual always seems to get a much needed reevaluation come springtime when it’s all too easy to take my laptop outside and crunch numbers while sun-bathing. Aside from the obvious fact that sunshine transforms your mood I think everyone would benefit from a much deserved break while working.

Too often we work ourselves into the ground and rarely stop long enough to enjoy simple, healthy pleasures such as the sunshine, a leisure walk after work, a crisp tomato cucumber salad for dinner or the company of family and friends. We should all strive for a well balance mental, physical and emotional state-of-mind everyday. A healthy state-of-mind is the gateway to clarity, efficiency and effectiveness which will aid in our indivual and collective efforts.

Next time you’re vacillating between reworking your presentation at your desk versus taking 20 minutes outside to complete the same task, I vote opt for the latter. Today’s economic times have stretched wallets as well as minds so take a moment and enjoy a well deserved break while working for free. You'll thank yourself later. ;o)
