Kitchen pantry diet challenge!

I am not sure if you’ve heard but there’s a new subculture craze among today’s consumers. The trend is what I call a Kitchen Pantry Diet but it has also been referred to as the Clean Fridge Club, Food Waste Reduction challenge as well as the Eat Down the Fridge challenge. We all know consumers are looking for ways to save pennies but they are also looking for ways to reduce consumption as an ethical decision. Hence, the emergence of the Kitchen Pantry Diet which challenges consumers to abstain from shopping for one week and create meals from food they already have in their kitchen pantries or fridge.

I decided to take the Kitchen Pantry Diet and have found it challenging and creative to create meal solutions from products already in my home. Last night I toasted a tortilla I had been using for wraps, opened a can of red beans, chopped some romaine lettuce, added cheddar cheese and salsa and BAM instant taco salad! The night before that I boiled rigatoni pasta and topped with grilled tofu and capelli sauce. Italiano Delight!

Deconsumption is an easy way to exercise your frugal and ethical consumption muscle. I challenge you all to take the Kitchen Pantry Diet for one week. Abstain from food purchases for one week and you'll save hundreds of pounds of carbon omissions, $40-$60/person and feel good about yourself during the process.
