It’s all a balancing act.

I came across an interesting article on the medicinal qualities food. The article spoke about Ayurveda which is a century old traditional India form of life science (ayus which means “life” and veda “science”). Ayurveda stresses a balance of universal and human physiology which can most easily be obtained through our food choices. Although the science behind Ayurveda can be complex the underlying principles are quite simple. Ayurveda teaches balance among our food selections as well as our life choices. There’s good and bad in every choice we make but the net result should be a positive result for the entire eco-system in the long-term.
I find Ayurveda a particularly relevant learning especially in today’s economy where less people are doing more work and more people are stretching less dollars. There isn’t an easy answer as to how to obtain personal equilibrium but it is possible with a little thought and effort. I believe food has medicinal and spiritual qualities that are often undetectable to unaware otherwise occupied eyes. Leafy green hide iron and minerals that will sustain you throughout long meetings, a tall glass of water will aid an eminent headache and succulent fruits bare complex sugars that immediately boast energy levels. Many of your mental, physical or spiritual ailments can easily be cured by a simple change in your diet; less of this and more of that. Finding balance either on your plate or in your life is worth striving for because it will produce immeasurable spiritual, mental and physical well-being. Don’t be afraid to tip the scales in your favor; if you don’t who will.
