I prefer my fitness like my food, spicy!

My friends will attest to the fact that I love to dance which is probably why I’ve fallen for a new form of dance fitness. Masala Bhangra is a relevantly new dance fitness that has made its way to our little corner of the world in Winston-Salem, NC. Masala, meaning spicy, and Bhangra, being a traditional dance of celebration from the Indian state Punjab, come together to form a spicy, fun dance aerobic routine that lifts both your spirits and your bum. The Indian-based dance aerobics incorporates your shoulders, arms, waistline, leg muscles and mental focus all while burning up to 500 calories per hour. That’s a lot of Vegan Tofu Curry salad you can enjoy later!

Dancing is not only an aerobic activity but it helps reduce stress and soothe weary minds. As far back as records date, humans have used dance as a form of expression, communication and socialization. Coordination isn’t required to enjoy the excitement of Masala Bhangra in fact, you can make your workout as simple or difficult as you prefer. Just dance to the beat of our own drum. So, get off the treadmill, step down from the Stairmaster and try something new. Your waistline will thank you and so will your inner Indian spirit.
